The Kite~yoga ~surf retreat which I ran here on Lanzarote went really well and we certainty made the most of the wind, waves, ocean and Lanzarote’s environment every moment of every day. Lisa and Joanna, the budding kitesurfers who were on the course, thankfully, had plenty of energy and excellent fitness, which meant they could deal with everything nature threw at them during the week! We had 7 full, magical days which always started at 7.00am with freshly squeezed juice and an invigorating yoga session by the pool, followed by Lisa’s strengthening core (hard core!!) exercise routine which we had a love/ hate feeling about! We then enjoyed Bruno's delicious fresh breakfasts outside before heaving to the beach for either kitesurfing, surfing, stand up paddle boarding or usually all three depending on the conditions! On the days the wind didn’t show up it was a tough decision between the stand up paddle boarding, free diving and snorkelling, surfing, or hiking down (and back up!) the dramatic Mirador cliffs to a deserted, paradise beach. However, as we are ‘super’ water women we managed to do everything and still had enough energy to drink a beer after our evening yoga session and review the day’s video footage and photos before falling into a very deep blue sleep! Thanks to Lisa and Joanna for their endless energy and enthusiasm throughout the week, to Bruno for the amazing breakfasts and stunning photos and footage and to Peste and Guigo for helping with the cooking and entertainment. Also a great big thanks to my sponsors Animal for providing the fantastic 'Enjoy not destroy' goodie bags and to North, ION,Fanatic and to Russle, the local, true waterman for his expert Stand up paddle board techniques that he shared with us all.
Most all thank you to the ocean which provides us with everything we need to live a happy, healthy, pure life. Please 'Enjoy not destroy' and as Jack Johnson sing's 'Reduce, reuse, recycle and pick up any litter you see on your local beaches. If we all pick up a few pieces of litter that have been washed up on our shores everytime we go to the beach then we are preventing that litter from going back into our ocean, and possibly saving a dolphin, sea bird, turtle and many other beautiful marine creatures from chocking or getting tangled up.
Check out the photos from the week and what Lisa thought of her ocean therapy retreat….. "I want to say a great big thank you to Kirsty and Ocean therapy for a wonderful week of fun, adventure and lots of exercise!! I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to spend a week in the extremely experienced and capable hands of Kirsty, I have learnt and progressed more than I could have ever dreamed off with my kitesurfing and also had the opportunity to try new water sports too!! Teamed with the fantastic video footage and professional photographs shot and taken by Bruno they are truly amazing souvenirs and the videos are so helpful for me to keep replaying to see exactly where I have been going wrong!! I can most certainly say I loved every minute of my holiday from the warm greeting I received from Kirsty at the airport to our goodbyes on my journey home. Every day was so well organised and structured in order to make the most out of each day. I just can’t believe how much we managed to pack into each day! This trip was so perfect for me as I enjoy being on the go with lots of adventures. From the Daily Yoga class poolside, snorkelling or Stand up Paddle Boarding in the morning's, to surf and kite surfing our days where certainly action packed and Bruno’s breakfast and fresh fruit juices everyday were delicious! My Ocean Therapy Yoga, Surf and Kite retreat with Kirsty was a dream that came Lisa Melvin "
